History: women and sports.
The woman, her body, and the activities she could develop have had a generally sexist treatment in society in relation to sports practice.
One of the most resistant stereotypes to change is to consider that sports are more appropriate for women and others that are for men. In this way, sex becomes a discriminatory variable in relation to participation in sports activities: belonging to the male sex undoubtedly favors this participation.
The progressive incorporation of women into sport is only a result of the growing role that has been acquiring in today's society, the participation of women in recent times has seen a significant and constant increase in distance from men, both in terms of Number of participants and of integration in the sphere of sport itself.
Thus, sport was constituted from the creation of an exclusively male paradigm that placed women in a condition of total exclusion or absolute inferiority.
Pierre de Coubertin would always oppose the participation of women in the Games; As early as 1912 he wrote: "The Olympic Games should be reserved for men. Is it possible to accept that women participate in all tests? No ... Then why authorize them to do it in some and prohibit it in others? " The role they should develop in their creation would be the same as they would have supposedly developed in the Ancient Greek Games: crowning the victors.
