The Woman Race 2017

Around 15.000 women have run the Woman Race 2016, performed in Valencia. In the event, the 24 women killed by men in 2017 have been honored with the release of 24 balloons. All the runners have worn a pink t-shirt and a dorsal with the same number, #061, which is the phone number for victims of gender violence.

The Woman Race 2016 had a record number of participants, over 1.000 more than the last year and over 3.000 more than in 2015.

All the women completed the 7,4 kilometres of the circuit, and after the finish line they joined the ‘fitness’ festival at Paseo de Neptuno, next to Malvarrosa’s beach.

The winner of the race was Marta Esteban, the second was Isabel Checa, Sandra Piera was in third place, and Essie Amery and María José López completed the top 5.

The race has the main sponsorship of Central Lechera Asturiana, Oysho, Zurich Seguros y Banco Santander, and the colaboration of Valencia's  Town Hall.

Vero Boquete: the queen of the spanish female football

She started her football carree in the inferior categories of the Xuventú Aguiño de   Riveira   (A Coruña). In 2005, she was signed by the Painsa Zaragora with whom she made her debut in the Super League. Between 2008 and 2010 she played in R.C.D. Espanyol where she won two runners-up of the League (2009/2010) and two Copas de la Reina (2009, 2010). The women's access to sport has been slow and full of difficulties. Pierre de Coubertin, creator of the modern Olympic Games, was until his death against the women's participation at the Olympics Games.
