Energy expenditure in women.

Imagen
The use of fat or carbohydrate by the cells will depend to a large extent on the intensity of exercise. Therefore, when the intensity of the exercise increases, the use of glucose increases as an energy source, accentuating according to sex. Women, use more fat as a source of energy when they are at rest, but more glucose when given pre-workout. This may be due to: a. Greater amount of testosterone in men, and b. A greater amount of TGIM (intramuscular triglycerides) in women. TGIM are small reserves of energy that are found in our muscles. Some studies have shown that these "fats" are higher in women than men, helping to meet energy needs during training. These intramuscular triglycerides are mainly found in type I (oxidative) fibers, so it will allow to maintain the performance during exercises of long duration.

History: women and sports.

Imagen
The woman, her body, and the activities she could develop have had a generally sexist treatment in society in relation to sports practice. One of the most resistant stereotypes to change is to consider that sports are more appropriate for women and others that are for men. In this way, sex becomes a discriminatory variable in relation to participation in sports activities: belonging to the male sex undoubtedly favors this participation. The progressive incorporation of women into sport is only a result of the growing role that has been acquiring in today's society, the participation of women in recent times has seen a significant and constant increase in distance from men, both in terms of Number of participants and of integration in the sphere of sport itself.
